With well over 170 mystery shopping companies listed as part of MSPA-NA, the industry’s trade organization, mystery shoppers are in demand. And there are many more companies who are not part of MSPA.
We are all part of an industry that makes a difference in corporations and organizations large and small. From huge Fortune 500 companies to the local entrepreneur who owns three delicatessens or preschools. Mystery shopping services are needed and in demand.
Choosing Who You Work For
I’ll bet very few of you are signed up as independent contractors for every mystery shopping company. Most of you likely choose
which companies you work for based on your personal preferences.
You likely look for companies who, at the very least:
- Have interesting shops in your area
- Pay well
- Pay on time
- Communicate regularly
- Are fun to work with
You make these choices to make your work financially viable, valuable, and fun.
Choosing Who Works for Us
Mystery shopping companies have our lists of ‘basics’ that we expect from our shoppers. It’s a bit harder for us to determine who has these traits. And we try to give everyone a fair chance. Without a doubt, however, our best mystery shoppers are those who are:
- Honest
- Observant
- Organized
- Flexible
- Agreeable
- Good writers
- Thorough readers
- Good listeners
- Good communicators
- Can think quickly on their feet
- A stickler for details
Our list may look to be a little longer than yours, but every trait is very important for us too when choosing our mystery shoppers.
We choose to give our best shoppers repeat assignments for the same reason you choose to work again for any mystery shopping company.
To retain our financial stability, bring value to our clients, and have a bit of fun while doing so.
The mystery shopping business is a serious business. It is critical to so many aspects of our client’s businesses. That is why we ask our shoppers to be the very best they can be in order to positively affect the lives of others.
Your work matters. Whether you work for one mystery shopping company or several dozen – each company looks for these traits.
If you are a mystery shopper who can fit all the requirements, you will be a mystery shopper who will be working for a very, very long time!
