Welcome to episode 5 of the Unstoppable Success Coaching podcast. Today’s episode is called Dream It! Live It! and is the first in our goal setting series.
What I want to share in the podcast episode is the importance of dreaming and the impact this is going to have on your unstoppable success. Now I know this might be a little bit of a stretch for those of you who don’t regularly take the time to dream about, visualize, imagine, or just think about the design of your life and success you want to have – and I hope you noticed that I said the “design” of your life because the life you are living at this moment is the life that you have consciously or unconsciously designed for yourself based on the decisions you have made up until this point in your life. YOU are the architect of your life.
But so many people that I encounter, either through my mystery shopping business, or the training I do, or through my coaching programs don’t take the time to think about what they want their lives (both personal AND professional) to look like and feel like – next year – 5 years from now or even 20 years from now. They let it all go to chance either thinking that they have no control or no time to think about themselves and their success. Success is not MY definition of success, but your definition.
I share the story of a client who I coached through the goal setting process.
Here are the 4 steps that I share for goal setting success:
- Acknowledge that you are in control of designing your life.
- Create a vision for your life. List the major areas in your life (relationships, career, health, money, etc.) and write down what those areas of your life will look like in one year, 5 years and 20 years. An alternative to writing down the vision is creating a vision board.
- Meditate on the vision of your life each day – either through a formal meditation process or using a vision board.
- Get a coach to help guide you through the process of setting your goals and hold you accountable in terms of meeting those goals as you become more and more successful in your life.
So you see, this dreaming part is the first part of the goal setting process. In our next podcast we’ll be talking about the practical aspects of setting goals, but in order to get to this part you need to have a vision. My question to you is, what’s yours?
