When I hear someone say they don’t have the time for training in their organization, I know that what they are really saying is that training is not a priority. The truth is that we make time for those things that matter to us.
What they are also saying is that their employees, profits, customers, and long term growth and success are also not a priority because training is an investment in all of these.
Establishing a learning culture in your organization by making the time for training, sends a clear message to your stake holders:
You are telling your employees that they are important to you – so important that you are willing to invest time and money in helping them acquire or hone the skills necessary for their success now and in the future.
To your customers, you are sending the message that their business matters so much to you that you are taking the steps necessary to ensure that your employees are skilled at helping them have the best experience possible with your organization in every way imaginable.
Some of the world’s most successful companies make the time and dedicate a portion of their yearly budget to educate those who are in the position to create repeat business for the organization. The message they are sending is that learning matters. It’s a priority.
So create the desire and urgency to learn in your organization. The investment you make now in time and money will more than pay off in future profitability.
How much time are you dedicating to training in your organization?
