During a recent call with Market Viewpoint staff and some long-time mystery shoppers, we got to talking about what keeps people involved in the mystery shopping business. There are people who have been mystery shopping for over 25 years! Proving this is not a new industry – and it is likely not going away. (Even though scammers keep trying to kill the business)
Here are what some people are saying about mystery shopping:
“I like knowing that we keep the economy going. We provide services for both big and small businesses. And opportunities for people to earn as much extra cash as they would like!”
“It has been exciting for me to provide services to our clients – and watch the staff improve, get rewards, and provide a better level of customer satisfaction to their clients.”
“For me, it’s the people. Shoppers, clients, schedulers, and editors. People from all walks of life from all over the country. It is fun to hear and share stories about where we live, what we do, and how we are all different, yet alike. It’s a business that exposes you to so many cool characters!”
“Making a difference. Mystery shopping is a fluid process that helps others ‘see’ what they might not otherwise. And that’s from both perspectives. I’ve watched clients make changes in how they train their staff and set up new procedures for working with customers. I’ve seen staff at client companies recognize their strengths and weaknesses. And make appropriate adjustments to how they work with the public. And I’ve seen mystery shoppers who say the experience has opened their eyes to the level of service that others should receive. It’s a win-win business!”
Mystery shopping takes people out of their comfort zone. It makes observers out of people who weren’t necessarily visual. It makes listeners out of people who didn’t know what they were supposed to be hearing. And it makes all of us better for thinking about how we can be the best at what anything we do.
